Guru Seva Week · 31 Oct – 6 Nov 2026 · for BYK TTC alumni

Each One.
Teach Two.

What if, for Sir’s birthday on 6 November, we each passed on a little of what we received?

Teach a simple yoga practice – 15 minutes or more – to any two people: a parent, a friend, a colleague, a neighbour. Choose what suits them from BYK’s handbook Yoga for All: Sukshma Vyayama, asanas, pranayama or meditation. It’s a collective offering to the Guru.

Teach from “Yoga for All”

BYK’s practical handbook of yoga, compiled by Bharat Yogavidya Kendra and recommended by Sri M. Choose the practices that suit your two people. You are free to create your own routine.

For BYK TTC alumni – Guru Seva Week 2026. Not for redistribution. The book is also emailed to you when you register.

  • Teach the whole hour using our suggested sequence, or
  • Teach just one part: only Sukshma Vyayama, only pranayama or only meditation, or
  • Use the book’s own 15 and 25-minute plans (p. 65–66).
  • Ask BYK on Sunday 25 Oct to clear your doubts, and Shweta and Gouri on WhatsApp for anything else.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who can take part?

All BYK TTC alumni, from any batch, residential or online. The two people you teach can be anyone.

I’m not teaching yoga at the moment. Can I still join?

Yes. You don’t need to be a professional teacher. Yoga for All gives you clear, step-by-step practices and a suggested sequence, and Ask BYK helps with the rest.

Who should my “two” be?

Anyone who would benefit: a parent, a friend, a colleague, a neighbour. Ideally people who are new to yoga.

Can I teach more than two people?

Yes. Two is where it starts. Teach as many as you like and tell us the number when you share your seva.

Can I team up with another alumnus?

Yes, teaming up is welcome. Please each register on the form, and each share your seva afterwards so we can count both of you.

Can I teach online?

Yes. In person or online both count. A video call with a parent in another city is a beautiful seva.

Do I teach both people together or separately?

Either works. Together is simplest – one session for both.

What exactly do I teach?

Anything from Yoga for All that suits your two people. You can follow our suggested one-hour sequence, use the book’s 15 or 25-minute plans (p. 65–66), or teach just one part: only Sukshma Vyayama, only pranayama, or only meditation. You are free to create your own routine.

Where do I get the book?

Download Yoga for All and the practice plan from this page, any time. The links also come with your registration. The PDF is for BYK TTC alumni only – please don’t forward it.

How long should my session be?

15 minutes or more – no pressure. Choose what is comfortable for you and your two people. The suggested sequence is about an hour.

I can’t join Ask BYK on 25 October.

No problem. The recording is emailed to everyone registered on 26 October.

Which days count?

Any day from Saturday 31 October to Friday 6 November, Sir’s birthday.

What if someone has a health condition?

Ask before you start about injuries, recent surgery, high BP, heart conditions or pregnancy. Read the contraindications listed under each practice in the book. Keep everything gentle, and when in doubt choose chanting, breath awareness or Shavasana.

Do I have to post on social media? When can I post?

Posting is optional. If you’d like to, post as soon as you’ve taught – any day from 31 October onwards. You don’t need to wait for the sharing form. Tag @bharatyogavidyakendra and use #EachOneTeachTwo. If you’d rather not share your own photos, post the “I taught two” image instead.

Social media posts and the “Share your Guru Seva” form are separate: please also fill the form (31 October – 8 November) so your seva is counted in the Tribute.

How do I tell BYK I’ve done my seva?

Fill the short “Share your Guru Seva” form any time from 31 October to 8 November, as soon as you’ve taught: how many you taught, a photo or short video if you like, and a few words. The link will be shared on the alumni group and by email on 30–31 October.

Is there a fee or a certificate?

No fee and no certificate – this is seva, an offering to the Guru. With your permission, your photos and stories become part of the Guru Seva Tribute on 12 November.

I’ve registered. What happens next?

Download Yoga for All and plan your sequence, bring your questions to Ask BYK on 25 Oct, teach your two between 31 Oct and 6 Nov, and share your seva by 8 Nov. We’ll remind you on the alumni WhatsApp group along the way.
